On May 16th at 19:05 hrs. Pineville EMS was alerted for an unknown
medical/ 911 hang up in the 10300 block of Willow Run Road.
With in a few seconds of dispatch Pineville and Carolina fire
departments were alert to the same address for a Structure Fire.
Chief Griffin arrived on scene established command within a few
minutes of dispatch and found a three story apartments building with
smoke and fire showing through the roof. Charlotte Engine 24,
Pineville Engine 3 and Ladder 1 arrived on scene within 4 minutes of
dispatch and began operations stretching 2 hose lines to the 3rd
floor to begin attacking the fire. With the size of the fire,
the crews were pulled off the 3rd floor and Pineville Ladder 1 was
placed in operation to knock the bulk of the fire down. Within
15 minutes of arriving on scene the bulk of the fire was knocked down
and crew reentered the 3rd floor to extinguish the rest of the fire
and began salvage and overhaul of the 2nd and 3rd floor. The
fire was placed under control at 19:42 hrs.

apartments were lost in the fire and 4 others damaged from water.
There were no deaths or injuries during the operations. The
fire is under investigation by the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal's
Office. All units were cleared and placed back in service at
00:27 hrs.
