Town of Pineville

Santa Claus Ride 2003:

December 24 - The Town of Pineville had a very unexpected but welcomed visit from Santa Claus today.  Santa Claus arrived at the Pineville Fire Department around 09:00 hrs this morning for the annual Santa Claus ride throughout the Town of Pineville.  After a good morning greeting,  Santa Claus climbed up to his cozy sleigh on top of Engine 3 and everyone took their positions to get the ride underway.  Santa and his elves were not the only ones on the ride, they were escorted by the entire Fire Department.  Truck 13 lead the parade with Chief Bill Griffin and Assistant Chief Les Gladden.  EMS 12, Engine 1 and Squad 8 were next inline followed by Engine 3 with  Santa in his sleigh.  Bringing up the rear of the parade was old EMS 12 and Ladder 1, which was carrying future firefighters.   The ride began on Franklin Dr. and made its way through the entire Town ending at around 17:00 hrs at Carolina Place Mall.  During his ride Santa threw bags of candy to all the good little boys and girls that stood along the streets to say hello.  Santa didn't forget the big kids either!  He took time out of his busy tour of the Town to make stops at Belle Johnson Center to visit Pineville's hot lunch participants as well as visiting the residents of the Laurels and Dorchester on Dormon Rd.  Great thanks go out to all of the participants that made this possible and a big thanks to Santa Claus for taking time out of his busy Christmas Eve schedule.  Hope to see you next year.
