Pineville Elementary School visits the

Pineville Fire Department.

Monday, November 17th.

Pineville Fire Department welcomed the 2nd grade students along with their teachers and some parents from Pineville Elementary School.  This meeting has become an annual event for the Pineville Fire Department and we take great pride in teaching and instilling fire education and prevention to these young students. Here is some of the topics that we go over with the students:

  • Stop, Drop, and Roll

  • What to do when your smoke detectors go off

  • What to do in an emergency situation.

  • Finding the best way out of your house during an emergency

  • Having a meeting place somewhere outside the house

  • Who to call in case of an emergency

  • What to do if they find someone playing with matches

The Pineville Fire Department explains to the students the job that we do and equipment that we use.  We go over some of the tools to help the students understand why we carry so much equipment, or "toys" as one 2nd grader said.  As shown in the picture to the left, we have a firefighter dress up in their turn-out gear and explain every piece that the firefighter puts on.  This helps the students understand how we protect ourselves in an emergency situation.  After all this has taken place, we let the students walk around so that they can get a first hand look at all the fire trucks and the equipment that we use.  Below are some pictures that we had taken during this visit.
