December 5, 2007 - Around 21:00 hrs.
Pineville Fire Department was alerted to a vehicle fire on I-485 in the
area of Hwy 51. Units arrived on scene to find a older model pickup
truck fully involved. FF's Matt
Blanton and Ed Abbott quickly stretched a line and extinguished the fire.
No injuries were reported and
all units cleared at 22:00 hrs.
November 3, 2007 - Members from
Pineville and Carolina Fire Departments participated in P.P.E training at
the Charlotte Fire Training Center. Training also included various
search and rescue drills throughout the Tower, The Denver drill - rescuing
down/injured firefighters, and Bail outs.

November 10, 2007 - Pineville Fire
Department held their annual open house. Members performed numerous
demonstrations for the public including a technical rope rescue with Ladder
1 and a vehicle extrication with patient care.

September 25, 2007 - Pineville Fire
Department was alerted to a vehicle fire in the parking lot of Stein mart on
Centrum Parkway. Chief Griffin arrived on scene to find a newer model
Ford Expedition with heavy fire showing. Pineville Engine 2 arrived on
scene within a few minutes and began attacking the fire.

September 9, 2007 - Pineville Fire
Department was alerted to a vehicle fire in the parking lot between
Dillard's and Sears at Carolina Place Mall. Show was visible from the
Fire Station and units responded. Pineville EMS 12 and Engine 2
arrived onscene to find a vehicle with fire coming from the trunk.
FF's Matt Blanton and Steve Draper made a quick attack extinguishing the
fire as FF Guerry Scott mopped up the brush fire. The fire was
evidently started due to the owner of the vehicle backing to far in the
parking spot and placing the hot exhaust pipe on to the pine needles.

July 20th, 2007 -
Pineville Fire Department took an afternoon to instruct the staff of
Habersham Apartments
how to properly use a fire extinguisher. They were taught the
different types of extinguishers and there effects on on different types of
fires. How to use a fire extinguisher correctly and affectively and
when to use it.

May 1, 2007 - Pineville and Carolina
Fire Departments were alerted early Tuesday morning for a Structure Fire at
Courtney's Restaurant on Park Rd. Chief Griffin along with Pineville
Engine 3 arrived on scene to find a single story commercial with smoke
showing. Chief Griffin took command and Engine 3 was assigned to force
entry and investigate. After pulling an 1 3/4" line and entering the
building, Engine 3's crew found a garbage can on fire in the kitchen.
Pineville Engine 2 arrived to assist with ventilation. Mecklenburg
County Fire Marshall was dispatched to investigate the situation.
Carolina was released from the assignment and cleared. Pineville
remained on scene for a good part of the morning.
Congratulations
Congratulations goes out to the newly-weds,
Karen and Kevin Sherard. They exchanged their vows Saturday, April
28th in Charleston S.C. surrounded by family and friends. Both Karen
and Kevin are members of
Pineville Fire Department. Best wishes to the both of them

Fully Involved Car Fire
April 23, 2007 - Pineville Fire
Department was alerted to a Car Fire on Industrial Dr. late Monday night.
Pineville Engine's 2 and 3 quickly responded and arrived onscene to find a
fully involved Ford Explorer. Engine 3's crew pulled a line and began
to attack the fire while Engine 2's crew assisted with opening the vehicle.
The fire was placed under control by command at 22:18 hrs. The fire
was caused by a tire blow-out and the rim dragging across the asphalt.
No injuries were reported on scene and all crews cleared without incident.
One Overturned on the Interstate
April 22, 2007 - Pineville Fire and
EMS were alerted to a traffic accident with one overturned on the inner loop
of I-485 at South Blvd. Chief Griffin arrived on scene within several
minutes of dispatch to find an overturned work van on i-485 near the I-77
interchange. All patients had been removed from the vehicle on the
arrival of Pineville Engine 2 and EMS 12 . Units assisted Medic with
treatment and immobilization of 2 patients. Both patient were
transported to Carolinas Medical Center with moderate injuries.
Pineville says Farewell to a Life Member
Family, Friends and Members of the Pineville Fire Department will say
farewell to a 39 year Life Member of the Pineville Fire Department. Dink Griffin,
Father of Chief Bill Griffin, passed away on Wednesday peacefully at his
home surrounded by his family. Dink will be remembered on Saturday
March 31st at Harrison United Methodist Church with visitation of
family and friends at 2 p.m. followed by funeral services at 4 p.m.
A procession will proceed after the conclusion of the service to the
Pineville Cemetery where burial services will take place.

Congratulations goes out Captain
Michael Gerin and his wife Kathy for the birth of their daughter
Elizabeth Grace. She was born at 03:55 hrs. Saturday morning weighing
in at 8 lbs. 9 ozs. and 20 1/4 inches long. Both mother and baby are
fine.

March 24, 2007 - Pineville Fire-EMS
along with Medic were alerted to a
traffic accident with overturned vehicle.
Assistant Chief Kevin Boatwright arrived on scene and advised one vehicle
MVA and overturned in the ditch. Pineville Squad 8 and Engine 2
responded to assist. Pineville assisted Medic with immobilizing one
patient for transport.
March 22, 2007 -
Around 3 a.m. Pineville Fire-EMS and Medic were alerted for a traffic
accident on Main Street in the area of the railroad tracks. Pineville
PD and York County Sheriffs Dept. were attempting to make a traffic stop on
a White Dodge Magnum when the driver decided to accelerate and lost control.
The driver hit the railroad tracks sending his vehicle airborne landing and
hitting a tree. Pineville Fire ended up popping and removing the
driver's door to remove him from the vehicle. The driver was placed in
spinal and immobilized and transported to CMC-Pineville Hospital.
March 9, 2007 - Pineville and
Carolina Fire Departments were alerted to a structure fire at the Public
Storage at Pineville Rd. Pineville Engine 2 arrived on scene to find
heavy smoke coming from a room next to the office and bystanders throwing 5
gallon buckets of water into the room. Chief Griffin assumed command
while Engine 2's crew advanced a line into the building quickly
extinguishing the fire. The fire had started from a candle left
unattended and was confined to the room which was being used as an office.
Chief Griffin placed the fire under control holding Pineville Engines 2 and
3. After the County Fire Marshall investigated, crews proceeded with
salvage and overhaul. All crews cleared the scene after working for 1
1/2 hours.
February 7, 2007 - At 22:41 hrs. Pineville and Carolina
Fire Departments were alerted to a possible Structure Fire at Willow Ridge
Apartments. An off-duty Pineville police officer was locking up the
club house when he notice smoke coming from the wall on the back porch.
After contacting 911 the Officer used a fire extinguisher to try and control
the fire. Within 6 minutes Pineville Engine 3 arrived on scene and
took over extinguishing the fire and opening the wall to search for
extension. Pineville Engine 2's crew made entry into the building and
ended up pulling a small section of ceiling to search for smoke and fire
conditions in the attic area. The fire was held in check to a small
section of the exterior wall. The Mecklenburg County Fire Marshall
responded to the scene for investigation. All Pineville units cleared
the scene at 01:03 hrs.
February 1, 2007 - The first snow
fall of 2007 hits the Mecklenburg County area. Snow started falling
around 5:30 am Thursday morning. Up to 2 inches of snow has fallen and
then changed to sleet and freezing rain.

January 20th - Pineville Fire Department held their annual
Banquet. After eating to much, Awards were presented to numerous
members of the Pineville Fire Department.
