December 28th, 2005 -
At 0133 hrs. Pineville and Carolina Fire Departments were alerted to a possible Apartment Fire at 12800 Meadow Creek Ln.  Pineville Engine 3 arrived on scene within 7 minutes of dispatch to find a 3 story apartment building with smoke coming from an apartment on the 3 floor.  Assistant Chief T. Jennings lead his crew to the 3rd floor to investigate while Chief Griffin assumed command.  During the investigation crews found a small fire in the hallway and laundry room area of the apartment and quickly knocked the fire down and controlled with a water can.  Engine 2's crew took to the attic to check for extension with only very minor damage to the ceiling area and a lot of smoke.  Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal responded to the scene for further investigation.  No injuries were reported.  All units cleared the scene
at 0449 hrs.


50th Anniversary T-Shirt Design

August 20th - Congratulations to Kimberly and Dave Harvey.  They were married on Saturday August 20th, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Good Shepard United Methodist Church on S. Tryon Street.
Best wishes go out to the newly-weds and may all their dreams come true.

 

 

 


August 19th - At 16:46 hrs.  Pineville, Carolina, and Steele Creek Fire Departments were alerted to a possible chemical fire at the 10000 block of Industrial Dr. in Pineville.  Chief Griffin arrived on scene within a few minutes of dispatch to find a 1 story industrial building with what appeared by be light smoke visible.  After meeting with employees Chief Griffin found it to be a barrel of unknown chemicals venting on the loading dock.  Chief Griffin immediately called for the Haz-Mat team from Charlotte Fire Department.  Pineville Engine 3 arrived on scene and established a water supply and pulled and extended 2 - 1 3/4" lines to protect the operations.    Chief Griffin also called for a full box alarm from Charlotte Fire Department for extra man power.  Charlotte's Haz-Mat team quickly suited up and made entry into the building investigating the chemical leak and successfully controlling the leak.  Thanks to all Departments and Agency's that responded to assist Pineville Fire Department with this incident.  All units cleared the call after 4 long hours in the heat with no injuries.

June 17th - Pineville Fire Department was alerted to a Vehicle fire at Goodwill on McMullin Creek Pkwy.  Pineville Engine 2 and 3 arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the vehicle.  Majority of the fire was confined to the engine compartment and front dash. 


June 16th - During the morning hours of June 16th Pineville and Carolina Fire Departments were alerted to yet another possible restaurant fire.   This time at the local Applebee's.  Pineville Engine 3 and Ladder 1 arrived on scene at 09:10 hrs and began investigation.   After finding heavy smoke inside and no signs of fire, units began to investigate the AC units on the roof.  Engine 3 found an AC unit which the belt of and the motor had burned up blowing all the smoke into the structure.  After quick ventilation, all units cleared at 09:42 hrs. and the restaurant was opened for business.


June 12th - The early morning of June 12th Pineville and Carolina Fire Departments were dispatched for a structure fire at Kentucky Fried Chicken on Pineville-Matthews Rd.  Captain M. Gerin arrived onscene at 07:50 hrs. assumed command and advised of heavy smoke coming from the building.  Pineville Engine 3 arrived on scene and units found that a chicken fryer was on fire inside the kitchen area.  After using a fire extinguisher to control the fire the unit was removed and the area checked for any extension.  There was no structural damage and all units cleared at 09:20 hrs.


June 11th - Pineville and Carolina Fire Departments were alerted to a possible Apartment fire in Meadow Creek Apartments.  Chief Griffin arrived within minutes of being dispatched to find a small fire in the pine needles next to the building.  Pineville Engine 3 arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire.


June 5th - Pineville and Carolina Fire Departments were alerted to a fire alarm at the local Suburban Lodge Hotel.  While responding Pineville F.D. was informed by Pineville P.D. that there was smoke coming form the third floor of the complex.  Assistant Chief Todd Passons arrived on scene shortly after dispatched and confirmed smoke and water coming from a room on the third floor.   Pineville Engine 3 arrived on scene at 21:47 hrs. and proceeded to the third floor to investigate and found that a sprinkler head did control a fire on top of the stove.  Carolina and Pineville units controlled the sprinkler and began salvage and overhaul of the second and third floor rooms.  Fire and smoke damage was a minimum and confined to the third floor room.  All units cleared the scene at 22:51 hrs. 


April 2nd & 3rd - 8 Pineville Firefighters join approximately 50-60 other firefighters and EMT's at
Lowes Motor Speedway to learn about firefighting and extrication tactics from NASCAR officials.  The 2
day class consisted of the differences between a road vehicles and a race cars, extrication of the driver from the race car, and fighting fires in and/or around the race car.


 

 


Fire at Carolina Place Mall on March 3rd


February 25th - Friday morning at 08:51 hrs. Pineville Fire Department was alerted to a traffic accident with possible entrapment on Pineville-Matthews Rd. in front of the Bojangles.  Pineville EMS 12 arrived onscene along with Medic and found a small compact car broad sided and the driver entrapped in the vehicle.   Pineville Squad 8 and Engine 2 arrived onscene and began extrication.  Capt. Mike Tobin along with Assistant Chief Les Gladden used the" Jaws of Life" to remove the front door of the vehicle to gain access to the patient.  The patient was quickly removed and place on a backboard for transport by Medic.  All Pineville units cleared the call at 09:25 hrs.


February 3rd -  During the morning hours of February 3rd, Pineville Fire Department was dispatched to an overturned tractor-trailer in the 12700 blk of Lancaster Hwy.  Pineville Engine 3 quickly arrived onscene to find the tractor-trailer on its side and leaking, of all things, sewage.  The truck was headed for the waste treatment plant with 8,000 gallons of partially treated sewage.  Pineville began to try and control the run off in to the drainage systems and assist in cleaning up with the EPA.  During the time of the incident, Pineville Fire Department also responded to 6 other incidents.  The incident was controlled after 4 1/2 hours.  10 personnel responded and assisted along with Medic, Pineville PD, Dellinger wreckers, and the EPA.
